Richard Gluckman

Founder and Principal of Gluckman Tang Architects, architect Richard Gluckman has closely aligned his work with the world of art and design, creating distinctive spaces for a number of art galleries and museums across the world. Over the years, Gluckman has led museum projects worldwide, including the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum and Study Center, Andy Warhol Museum and the renovation of the Whitney Museum of American Art. Known for his modernist aesthetic’s involvement with New York minimalist architecture began in the late 1970s with a design of an Upper East Side residence for the founders of the Dia Art Foundation. Since then, his reputation as the “archists’ architect” grew, having completed studio spaces and homes for artists including Chuck Close, Ellsworth Kelly and Francesco Clement. He has also received widespread acclaim, including the 2017 AIA Small Projects Award, AIANYS Honor Award and Building Type Award in 2008 and 2017, a 2007 AIANYS Design Award for Architecture, and a 2007 AIA College Committee Honor Award for Excellence in Architecture.
