Nadir Watch BLACK

FG icon

At its core (pun intended) the Nadir watch from designer Damian Barton is exactly what the name suggests. Meaning “the deepest point on a celestial sphere directly beneath a surface position,” the Nadir never strays from the core of time itself. The arrows point at both the white hour and minute numerals on the all-black dial centered atop an all-black frame.

Hour: arrow with largest head
Minute: arrow with medium head
Second: smallest arrow

Damian Barton

Prior to studying industrial design, Australian-born designer Damian Barton first got his start in furniture making, for which he completed a four-year apprenticeship. While furniture making techniques can still be found in much of his work, it wasn’t until enrolling at the College of Art, Design & Media in Perth, Australia that Barton found his true calling of industrial design. After relocating to the US in 2003, Barton’s work has received widespread acclaim and has been exhibited by renowned curators—including Ellen Lupton and the Vitra Design Museum for 2econd Skin, an exhibition of the Cooper-Hewitt Design Museum featured at Entry 2006 Max Fraser for inclusion in Design UK (London), and Marva Griffin for Avverati – A Dream Come True, Torino World Design 2008—for his inspiring interaction interaction through the fusing of function with innovative forms.
