Witherspoon White with White Band 30mm

$125.00 $39.95

We’ve had many, many requests for a smaller sized Witherspoon…and here it is! The Michael Graves-designed classic Witherspoon, now available in WHITE on WHITE.

Design: Michael Graves

At the intersection of Witherspoon Street and Paul Robeson Place sits The Paul Robeson Center for the Arts in Princeton, New Jersey. Architect Michael Graves honors the project with the Witherspoon series of watches. The Witherspoon WHITE with WHITE Band by Michael Graves features a WHITE color with a WHITE leather band. We’ve had many requests over the years to offer a smaller version of the Witherspoon, and here it is. As with our other Witherspoon watches, this ladies Witherspoon Watch variation evokes the rich tones of the building’s earth tones as well as its bold vistas of the town’s center. The watch is filled with subtle detail: from the matching white color on the crown, to the matching white color of the second hand, to the large numbers with raised indexes in a rich black color.

The Witherspoon WHITE has black hands, black numbers and a blue second hand.

Michael Graves received his architectural training at the University of Cincinnati and at Harvard University. Among his many completed projects were the Portland Building, the Humana Building, the Clos Pegase Winery in the Napa Valley, and the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels. Graves was the winner of fifteen Progressive Architecture Design Awards, nine American Institute of Architects National Honor Awards, and thirty-eight New Jersey Society of Architects, AIA Awards.

The ladies Witherspoon Watch in WHITE with WHITE Band measures 30mm in diameter (1.15″) and 8.45mm high (0.33″), is made of stainless steel, and complemented by a 16mm white leather band (0.63″) with white stitching.

Graves is the winner of fifteen Progressive Architecture Design Awards, nine American Institute of Architects National Honor Awards, and thirty-eight New Jersey Society of Architects, AIA Awards. Michael Graves was recently awarded the national medal of the arts. Here is a transcript of what President Clinton said at the ceremony: So it's little wonder that Michael Graves' work can be found from our shopping malls to our National Mall. From an award-winning office building to a tea kettle; to the creative scaffolding around the Washington Monument -- which, I might say, has enriched the lives of every person in Washington, D.C. -- (applause) - - and made those often stuck in what is now America's most crowded traffic patterned city have their time pass a little better, Michael Graves has created art that surrounds our lives.

Michael Graves is a rare individual who finds equal wonder in things both large and small. As one of our century's most important designers and architects, he has said he gets as much pleasure planning a large building as he does designing a spatula. (Laughter.)- THE PRESIDENT
He calls himself a great practitioner, but in some ways his challenge is more daunting than that of a physician. As Frank Lloyd Wright once said, "After all, the doctor can bury his mistake," -- (laughter) -- "but the architect can only advise his client to plant vines." (Laughter.) The only thing that grows and covers Michael Graves' work is our admiration, appreciation and respect." Read about Michael Graves here: Buildings and Projects 1990-1994
