Mercedez Rex

About the Creator

Mercedez Rex

Mercedez Rex is an Austin based artist and creativity enthusiast skilled in the art of marbling; a centuries old mono-printing technique that involves floating pigment on the surface of thickened water to make dynamic patterns that can then be transferred onto paper, fabric or leather. Mercedez Rex breathes new life into this tradition through experimentation with pattern and scale in her line of accessories that incorporate digital reproduction. As a teacher, Rex aims to preserve the legacy of marbling, hosting workshops that emphasize Asian + European techniques to ensure that historical patterns are not lost.
